There are so many courses, services, and coaches out there to invest in for your business. And it can be a little overwhelming and confusing—which ones are going to actually move the needle for my business? I wanted to share my five best investments of 2020, in case they're helpful for you. These are the ones that made the most impact on my business and have allowed me to serve my clients with even better services.

  1. Moyo Studio: Moyo makes the absolute best mock-ups and stock photos for creative business owners and designers. They have taken my portfolio, website, Instagram, and Pinterest to the next level and every single thing I bought from them this year was 100% worth it.

  2. Amplify Shopify: Shopify is honestly not an intuitive website building platform, but it’s without a doubt the best one for e-commerce businesses. I wrote down a list of my dream clients this year and every single one was an e-commerce brand, so I shifted my business model to focus primarily on serving them and serving them well. Amplify Shopify from Morgan Rapp helped me feel confident in offering high-quality Shopify web design and it’s already been so beneficial for my clients.

  3. Mindset Mastery Bootcamp: Mindset work was something I ignored forever, until I finally realized that I was the one holding myself back. So many coaches talk about mindset, but Cassie Dulworth's Mindset Mastery Bootcamp gave me really practical techniques to actually make changes—and she also talks about it in a way that is so easy to grasp. It’s changed not only my business, but also how I show up in the world.

  4. The Designer Essentials Kit: Abbey’s templates completely changed my design process. I’ve been a designer for over ten years, but I never really learned how to effectively present concepts and ask for feedback. Now I feel fully confident in my process and it makes for such a better experience for my clients too—they feel fully empowered and supported throughout the process.

  5. Flawless Typography Checklist: I’m obsessed with type and Typewolf’s Flawless Typography Checklist is something I use in projects constantly, along with Jeremiah’s font pairing guides. There are a million fonts out there, so this helps me narrow it down to the best of the best, as well as expertly pair fonts and set type for my client projects.

Investing can feel daunting, but one question I always ask myself is if it will bring a better experience for my clients and if it will—that usually means it's worth it for me. My number one goal as a designer is to help your business thrive, and investing in quality programs and services helps me do that more effectively.
