Three Reasons Why I Switched to Flodesk

I've been doing email marketing for ten (!) years, so I'm well versed in the big email marketing softwares out there—namely Mailchimp and Constant Contact. But when I went to start email marketing for my own business, I decided to test out something new and I'm so glad I did.

I honestly hated email marketing until I found Flodesk. And now? I'm actually excited to get emails out to my list. Plus, it takes me a fraction of the time it used to when I used other software. Here are the big three reasons why I switched:

  1. Design: As a designer, I obviously want my emails to look good and on-brand. But when I used to use Mailchimp, the whole process to achieve a consistent aesthetic was incredibly clunky and time-consuming. I would often have to create each piece of the email in Adobe InDesign or Illustrator, export it as a JPG, upload it into Mailchimp, and then add any links. The emails would look pretty good, but they were just series of JPGs—not actual text that you could highlight, copy and paste, etc. With Flodesk, none of that is a concern. You can create the most beautiful emails using one of their templates or build one from scratch on your own. They have an amazing variety of fonts and layout options, and it's easy to incorporate your brand colors and overall brand aesthetic. It's honestly so fun to create each email and it takes me way less time.

  2. Workflows: The Workflow section of Flodesk is so intuitive and easy to use. I've wanted to create an opt-in email sequence for a while now and it was so easy to create with their platform. I started with one of their forms, customized it to my brand look, and then added the code for the form easily to my website (and FYI, you really don't need to know anything about code for this—all you have to do is copy and paste). This allowed me to have Flodesk automatically add that subscriber to my list and then receive my one of my "Workflows." The Workflows are just sequences of emails that are triggered by events you choose, like opting in to a list. I made one, for example, that sends a different email every seven days for a month when someone opts in, introducing them more fully to our studio and what we offer.

  3. Pricing: With many other email marketing softwares, you have to pay based on the number of subscribers on your list. For me, that often meant that I felt like I should have less subscribers, just so I wouldn't have to pay more (which is the opposite of what you should want as a business owner). Flodesk is so affordable and has just one flat monthly fee, so you can continue growing your list with zero fear that you're going to have start paying a crazy amount just for your email marketing.

Once I tried Flodesk, I knew I was never going back to other platforms—it has solved so many problems I've had with email marketing for years. If you want to try it for yourself, you can get 50% off your monthly subscription here. We hope it helps you fall in love with email marketing again too (and helps you start converting your email list into loyal customers and clients!).
